The Calification Jury will now start the reading of the ten finalist stories and they will decide the winners of both categories: international and local. We hope we can publish the results as soon as possible (probably by the end of this month). Good luck to all of the finalist, who regardless of their final position, will have their work published in our book Cuentamontes 2011.

Summary of the III Gala Cuentamontes |
The Auditorium wasn't big enough to take in all the people willing to share the experience with the winners and guests of honour of the Cuentamontes contest last 5th of February. Friends and family were reunited to share a magic night full of stories and mountains. Of course, our friends the gnomes from the Cid didn't miss the chance to be with us that night. Their presence is frequent in our gala, and this time they offered a nice dialogue in favour of the defense of the Mountain as a lifestyle. They also read an emotional manifest that caused the ovation of the public and left a smile on our lips.

With tears on our eyes we remembered the friends who aren't with us anymore, Francisco Civera and José Avilés, members of the Expedition KIMAKE-80, and our recently deceased friend and fellow collaborator of Cuentamontes, Javier Navarro.
The event also enjoyed one more year with the attendance of the legendary writer and mountaineer Agustín Faus, who wrote the prologue of the book of this edition. This Cuentamontes friend, besides leaving us his written and spoken words, also give us his boots so they can be on display at the Museo del Calzado ( Shoes Museum) in Elda.
Two interesting novelties were introduced: On one hand, Amor Gómez, as the coordinator of the jury for stories written in English, announced that on our next edition the contest will accept stories and tales in English.
With this we pursue to internationalize the contest and broaden the number of countries that can participate. On the other hand, the second novelty could be enjoyed all through the gala.
Cuentamontes already has a theme, composed by Darío Palomo, a very sensitive and generous musician from Toledo. The music, which was played on different moments of the event, made possible a calid atmosphere which takes us all to a world of dream and fantasy.
To the ceremony attended big part of the finalists and all the winners. During the event, the Cuentamontes 2010 book was launched and literary and photography prizes were presented. Only three finalists were absent: José Ramón Franco de la Mata, from Ponferrada; Luis Salvador Contreras Guamalan, Chilean living in Hamburg; and José Ramón Alonso Peña, from Salamanca.
The attendant finalists were Juan Ramón Olmos Vico and Jesús Labajo Yuste, from Granada; Tomás Blanco Claraco, from Linares; Florentino Caballero Santacruz, from Camuñas; and Sergio Generelo Tresaco, from Huesca.

The winners were: Rafael Ruano Cerdá, local winner, from Elda; Victoria Trigo Bello, absolute winner, from Zaragoza; Photography contest winner, Gabriel Gómez Perez. The winner photography is the cover of the Cuentamontes 2010 book.

The honorees by Cuentamontes organization this year were the climbers Helios Payá Reig "Gatet", and Jose Navarro Brotons, "Pipona" for his renowned mountaineer activity and for being the climbing pioneers in the valley. And, of course, they were not alone. Several friends and colleagues wanted to share this moment with them, and the organizers made possible for them to meet on stage, prompting an emotional moment of the gala.
To the ceremony attended, as well, the presidents of the Centro Excursionista de Petrer and Club Alpino Eldense, President of the Valencian Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing, and the Culture Councils from Petrer and Elda

This edition honorees were also present in the ceremony: the painter Luis Soria; the poet Damián Varea; the collector Marcelo Torres; and the writer Rubén Marín Camenforte. The outstanding activity was the KIMAKE-80 expedition and the prize was taken in by Isabel Martínez as a member of that expedition.
